Position Overview

The Operations Support Specialist is responsible for the oversight, optimization, and governance of operational systems and support processes that enable field operations, fleet technology, and safety compliance. This role exercises independent judgment in prioritizing operational needs, establishing system standards, and leading technology-related initiatives that directly impact operational effectiveness.

 

Serving as a subject matter expert and system owner for key operational platforms, the Operations Support Specialist partners with internal stakeholders and external vendors to develop solutions, define best practices, and drive continuous improvement across operational processes.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
Operational Support Governance & Prioritization
  • Own and manage the operational support intake and prioritization framework for technical and service requests submitted through Zendesk, ensuring alignment with business priorities and service-level expectations
  • Establish standards for issue resolution, escalation, and communication with field and branch teams
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex operational system issues, determining resolution paths and vendor engagement
 
Technology & Systems Expertise
  • Serve as subject matter expert and system administrator for Samsara, Trimble, and related operational platforms
  • Oversee system accuracy, data integrity, and audit processes; identify risks and implement corrective actions
  • Partner with IT to evaluate, prioritize, and implement system enhancements, dashboards, and reporting tools
 
Training Strategy & Enablement
  • Design, develop, and oversee training programs for operational systems to promote consistent and compliant usage
  • Assess training effectiveness and system adoption, implementing improvements based on performance data
  • Evaluate new vendor features and lead internal testing, implementation, and training for approved solutions
 
Vendor & Fleet Technology Oversight
  • Provide operational oversight of fleet technology platforms, including telematics, in-vehicle cameras, and mobile device management (MDM)
  • Define deployment standards, compliance requirements, and monitoring protocols
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to plan implementations and resolve performance issues
  • Manage driver devices and MDM systems to ensure compliance and adoption
  • Provide real-time support for driver device issues
 
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives with Operations, IT, Safety, and Legal teams
  • Analyze operational data and trends to recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Prepare reports and insights to support operational decision-making and process updates
 
Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support fleet and corporate objectives
 
 
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in operations, logistics, operational systems, or administrative support with increasing responsibility
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment in managing priorities, systems, or processes impacting business operations
  • Hands-on experience with telematics or operational platforms such as Samsara, Trimble, or similar systems
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and standard business software (Excel, Outlook, reporting tools)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in construction, building materials, logistics, or wholesale distribution environments
  • Experience supporting or leading technology implementations or cross-functional initiatives
  • Familiarity with Zendesk or similar ticketing platforms

Compensation
The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
  • Base: $31.25 - $45.67 per hour
  • Bonus: 15% Target Bonus
  • Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $74,750 - $109,243
  • Equity: This role is not eligible for equity opportunities, awards or grants
