Position Overview

The Risk Management Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s enterprise risk management, insurance programs, claims administration, and loss prevention strategies.  This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to safety incidents, insurance claims, and overall risk exposure.  The analyst will collaborate with internal departments and external partners to identify trends, implement risk mitigation initiatives, and support compliance efforts.  The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing risk in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
Contractual Insurance & COI Management
  • Review contracts to ensure compliance with company insurance requirements
  • Oversee the issuance, tracking, and compliance monitoring of Certificates of Insurance (COIs)
  • Manage the Auto ID insurance process, ensuring all vehicles maintain current and accurate Auto ID Cards as proof of insurance
  • Collaborate with legal, procurement, and operational teams to identify and mitigate contractual risk exposures
  • Ensure vendors, subcontractors, and business partners maintain appropriate insurance coverage in accordance with contractual obligations
 
Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) – Origami
  • Maintain the company’s Origami RMIS platform, ensuring data accuracy and system efficiency
  • Generate reports, dashboards, and analytics to support risk assessments and decision-making
  • Collaborate with IT and external vendors to enhance system functionality and improve reporting capabilities
 
Bonds and Surety Management
  • Manage all aspects of bonds and surety programs, including assessment of requirements and procurement of appropriate bonds
  • Collaborate with contract managers and brokers to ensure timely and accurate execution of bond and surety agreements
  • Communicate bond and surety matters to the VP of Risk, providing insights and recommendations as needed
  • Ensure all bond and surety documentation complies with contractual and regulatory requirements
 
Claims Management Support
  • Assist with claim reporting, documentation, and follow-up for general liability, auto, workers’ compensation, and property claims
  • Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders, insurers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) to facilitate smooth claims processing
 
Flood Insurance Program Management
  • Identify properties requiring flood insurance and procure appropriate coverage under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
  • Manage flood insurance policies, including renewals, endorsements, and claims
  • Evaluate flood risk exposures and recommend mitigation strategies to protect company assets
 
General Risk Management & Insurance Support
  • Analyze claims data to identify trends and recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies
  • Assist with insurance policy renewals, including data collection, underwriting submissions, and policy reviews
  • Support enterprise-wide risk management initiatives by providing research, analysis, and recommendations
  • Maintain accurate records of insurance policies, endorsements, and certificates
  • Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes impacting risk management and insurance
 
Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support risk management and corporate objectives
 
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in risk management, insurance, or claims administration
  • Experience with contractual risk transfer and Certificate of Insurance (COI) compliance
  • Proficiency or willingness to become an advanced user of Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS); Origami Risk experience preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to diverse stakeholders
  • Professional certifications such as ARM (Associate in Risk Management) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) are a plus
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the insurance and risk management industries
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation, reporting, and data analysis

Compensation
The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for the position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
  • Base: $35.00 - $43.00 per hour
  • Bonus: 10% Target Bonus
  • Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a total compensation package in the range of $72,800 - $98,384.
  • Equity: This role is not eligible for equity opportunities, awards, or grants.
