Position Overview

At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), the Instructional Designer is responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s Learning Management System (LMS) and serving as a partner to subject matter experts (SMEs) across departments. This role ensures that learning content is accurate, relevant, and accessible by maintaining a regular cadence of review for both training content and SharePoint resources. Your attention to detail and commitment to service make a real impact across the business.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  1. LMS Administration & Support      
  • Provide day-to-day LMS administration, including uploading courses, updating descriptions, images, and catalogs, managing enrollments, and ensuring the home page remains current and engaging
  • Troubleshoot issues with course completions, enrollments, and user access
  • Explore and implement LMS features to enhance training effectiveness (e.g., groups, gamification, skills management, learning plans)

 

  1. Compliance Training Facilitation
  • Support the rollout and tracking of compliance training initiatives, ensuring employees meet mandatory training requirements
  • Partner with HR and department leaders to assign compliance courses, monitor completions, and follow up on overdue training  
  • Provide accurate compliance reporting for audits, regulatory reviews, and leadership updates

 

  1. Content Development, Management & Review  
  • Partner with SMEs and department heads to manage and maintain LMS and SharePoint training pages, ensuring content is accurate, organized, and relevant
  • Establish and maintain a regular cadence for reviewing all training content to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business needs
  • Use content creation tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, Rise, or similar) to develop training courses and materials from pre-developed storyboards or SME-provided outlines
  • Format and package existing training content into e-learning modules or other delivery methods that align with company standards  

 

  1. Reporting, Data Analysis & Insights
  • Generate and distribute LMS reports, including compliance tracking, course usage, completion rates, and learner engagement
  • Analyze data on training usage and trends to identify opportunities for improvement or increased engagement
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the L&D team on which training programs or topics should be promoted, refreshed, or emphasized based on participation and performance data
  • Support data-driven decision-making by presenting clear summaries and visualizations of key learning metrics
  • Training Calendar & Communication Management

 

  1. Training Calendar & Delivery Coordination  
  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, and SMEs to develop communication plans that promote optional or high-value training opportunities
  • Ensure consistency in messaging across the LMS, SharePoint, and training communications

 

  1. Miscellaneous

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with LMS administration (Litmos Learning experience a plus)
  • Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for learning initiatives
  • Familiarity with e-learning content authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with SMEs and department leaders
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to adapt quickly to change priorities
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to managing system and content accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for summarizing findings and influencing decisions

Compensation

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
